Reviews
The art is probably digital but evokes woodcut designs printed with colors on black paper. It's beautiful, and unique. The cover has a silvered effect, and I wish the interior did as well, but the images are great. The effect is similar to the Gollancz Discworld "Collector's Edition" series--in fact, at first glance I thought it was those covers, but on investigation they're not the same. Most of the images are not of the familiar characters, but we do get a few: The Witches feature on October (the Magrat version), and we get to see the Hogfather for December (naturally). That image and the one of Great A'Tuin are both worthy of framing, in my opinion, and since this calendar won't be good again until 2044 (leap-years make these difficult to reuse--the last one you can use is from 1988), I may just do that.Worth tracking down if you like Discworld art to be a little abstract--and just a little, it's still identifiable as narrative pieces--rather than the more traditional Kidby illustrations.
